The Colosseum
 
  The Colosseum, or Flavian Anphitheatre, is the most well
  known monument of Rome and probably one of the most
  important monument of the world.

  CASTEL SANT'ANGELO (2nd century)
Castel Sant'Angelo
 
  The Castel Sant'Angelo is towering cylindrical building in Rome
  commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum
  for himself and his family. It was a fortress and castle, and is
  now a museum (Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo).

  THE PANTHEON (125 AD)
The Pantheon
 
  The Pantheon was built as a temple in 27 BC (1st century) in
  Ancient Rome, but it has been a Christian Church since the
  7th century. In front of the Pantheon stands the Obelisk
  Macuteo, one of fourteen ancient Egyptian Obelisks in Rome.

  CONSTANTINE ARCH (315 AD - 4th century)
Arch of Constantine
 
  The Arch of Constantine is a triumphal arch in Rome, situated
  between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill.
  It was erected to commemorate Constantine's victory over
  Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge (312 AD).

  THE MOUTH OF TRUTH (Middle Ages)
The Mouth of Truth
 
  The Mouth of Truth is a famous sculpted image in Rome.
  It was a part of an Ancient Roman fountain or perhaps a
  "manhole" cover, portraying a river "god".

  PYRAMID OF CAIUS CESTIUS (12 BC - 1st century)
Pyramid of Caius Cestius
 
  The Pyramid of Caius Cestius was an Egyptian-style pyramid in
  Rome. It was the tomb of Caius Cestius, a member of one of the
  four great religious corporations at Rome (Septemviri Epulonum).

  DOMUS AUREA (1st century)  
  The Domus Aurea was a large palace built by the Roman
Domus Aurea
 
  emperor Nero after the fire that devastated Rome in 64.
  The style of wall paintings in Domus Aurea inspired Raphael's
  Vatican Stanze and 18th-century Neoclassicism alike.
